National political correspondent Dan Balz and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Haynes Johnson will offer a talk titled Chronicles from the 2008 Campaign and a Look at the Obama Presidency, which will draw upon their experiences covering the 2008 presidential election and the Obama administration.

Balz and Johnson are the authors of The Battle for America 2008: The Story of an Extraordinary Election, which tells the story of the 2008 presidential campaign, with exclusive interviews with the candidates and their top strategists.

Dan Balz has been at The Washington Post for 30 years as both a reporter and editor, and has covered or helped direct the coverage of every presidential and mid-term election since 1980. Currently the lead political reporter for the Post, he has also served as the paper’s national editor, political editor, and White House correspondent.

Haynes Johnson is a Pulitzer-prize winner, a best-selling author, and a national television commentator, who has earned a reputation as one of the nation’s most respected political analysts. A native of New York, Johnson has combined a career as a reporter, columnist, and editor at The Washington Post covering stories at home and abroad. He is the author of fourteen previous books, five of which were national bestsellers.

In addition, both authors are regular commentators on Washington Week, NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, Meet the Press, and the Today Show. Balz is also a regular commentator on Face the Nation.

The event will be held in the NHIOP auditorium.  Following the talk, there will be a book sale and signing with the authors.
